Valve Replacement Surgery.

250 mile ride out in Western Mass, no problems.
The very next day I go to start the bike and it's only running on one cylinder. Some forensics revealed I bent an exhaust valve and it took the guide with it...??
New guide, plus new valves put in by a local shop & I'm back on the road.

  1. Odd, sounded fine that day, did it lose power at all on the way home?

  2. Not in the least, ran like a mofo. That's what I don't get.

Sucker was bent though, I still have it. Tapped the intake valve in the process...

  3. Is there more to replacing a valve than just sliding it through the new guide and lapping it?

  4. Yep...guide to valve fit has to be right, guide to head fit, and sometimes the seat has to be reground/ replaced. Tempting to take the easy way out, but it's short money to have the pros do it and make sure it's good.
